Electronic switch series 829

I came across this antique 829E electronic switch on Ebay the other day. It has the original inspection tag still attached after 50 years. The initials on the stamp belong to Charles G. Fairman hired in 1964 for a position in the Test Dept. later renamed Quality Control.

The model 829 series sold for $325 and up depending on features in 1960. The photo illustrates the differences by the front panel. The 829E (Top) and the 829C (Bottom). There was an 829B, C, D, E and S

The electronic switch was a unit which permitted control and variation of rise-decay time and repetition period of an auditory signal. It eliminated the click when a signal was turned on and off. There were two input and output channels with excellent inter-channel rejection. Frequency response was +,-0.5dB, 20 to 50,000 Hz, Repetition Period and Rise-Decay times adjustable over a wide range.
